Acne Control

Acne control is extremely important for millions of people who suffer from this problem. Acne is very common and there are various levels of the disorder. There are also hundreds of theories for acne treatment. Infinite numbers of acne products are on the market, and several of them are prescribed by dermatologists for help in curing acne. Others believe natural acne treatment is the best alternative.

Before true acne control is possible, it is important to understand the disorder and the many levels of it. Acne actually means clogged pores, such as blackheads and whiteheads, but it also refers to pimples and lumps (or cysts) of bacteria. Acne can be on the face, neck, arms, back, chest or anywhere else on the body. It can range from moderate to extremely severe, and can cause scarring and major discomfort.

Acne control is mostly sought out by teenagers, who seem to be the most effected by the disorder, but it can also affect people in their 20s, 30s, and in rare cases, their 40s. Studies have shown acne can last up to ten years before it begins to go away on its own. This is why acne treatment is necessary for many cases. Mild acne can be treated with over the counter products, but severe acne usually requires medication prescribed by physicians.

Alternatives for Acne Control
There are several ingredients in some of the over the counter and prescription products, which are said to help break down the bacteria that cause acne and infections. Benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid, and retinol are just a few common ones. However, not everyone's skin reacts well with these harsher medicines and they may seek out other alternatives. There are many natural products for acne control available as well.
